The look of this map was inspired by the maps in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. It was designed for a game of my own making called Elder Days™. A lot of research went into the place names in an attempt to make the world feel more real. The place names have traces of Old English, Finnish, Spanish, Irish Gaelic, Russian, French, John Dee’s fictional Enochian and even a Celt-Iberian/Arabic mix in the south-east.
