This is the sixth map in a series of nine for Elder Days™. As I have mentioned before, the maps of Lodria are made from a mix of features I’ve created myself and features adapted from old 16th century engravings.
In order to create the village and city names for all of the Lodria maps, I took the first part of an Anglo-Saxon or Celtic personal name and attached it to a place name suffix. When I was finished I had a huge list of names that I showed to a couple of British friends. I asked them to put a mark next to each one that sounded like it could be a real place in Britain but actually wasn’t. Then I used that list to name my settlements appropriately according to suffix (“-bourne”, “-comb”, “-field”, etc.) and crossed off each one as I went.
